Ratchet5’s skill point guide reminded me that I promised to upload this…back in April or May lol. Whoopsiedoodle.
These are two videos that I recorded last summer (BEFORE the LP, hence the bad quality) that have me beating Gulp and Ripto without superflame. The official skill points don’t call for it (they just want it done), but think of it as an unofficial test of your Spyro skills. I did have one for Crush, but since I have an LP piece of me doing it, I just deleted it. Beating Crush is dead easy anyways and the battles don’t change in difficulty with or without superflame. Gulp and Ripto on the other hand are MUCH harder. I’ve defeated them without superflame MANY times (which is the reason you don’t get the skill point chime at the end), but it takes a lot of practice.
There is also no commentary, because it would just be me senselessly rambling as post-commentary, and that’s not as fun as live.
Gulp: The superflame battle lasts a few seconds, making it the easiest skill point in the game. Without it, it’s easy among the hardest. At least Gulp is pretty predictable for most of the match and my most common hit from when I play him is caused by rushing in and getting caught in my own attack (you can see that a few times where I just backed off). Not much to say about “strategy” except I tend to run in circles a lot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Patience and choosing your time to attack CAREFULLY helps too. There are many where I perhaps should’ve been hit (especially since I ran out of room frequently), but the game decided to cut me slack.
Ripto: You damn derranged muppet! This guy is a real bitch even with superflame, since you don’t get any real advantage except for the first two stages. In the last stage, it’s so easy to get hit. Playing defensively I guess is my strategy, but the game seems to have issues with you hitting and running. In the first stage, sometimes the game decides that your stunning attack will miss, and Spyro hops away with a flamed ass. For the last stage, I launch a few seemingly on target fireballs, veer away, and it either doesn’t hit or the bird just squacks. It doesn’t register a hit unless you’re closer to being face-to-face I guess. I’ll admit it, this battle has a lot of luck involved. The reason why I won is that Ripto and I got the right power-ups (I got superflame and that acid…stuff, while Ripto only had ONE green power-up in the entire battle. That lazer attack is a bitch and kept killing me in the 40 or so tries I had). My “kill finger” was also really itchy and I tried attacking Gulp WITHOUT a power-up (wasn’t paying attention to my orbs) and somehow escaped without a scratch. Phew.
Also, taking a break on Okami for a little to get some editing done by the way.
Woo, crappy commentary and boring white-on-black text.
This is a similar sort of video as I did last year with Spyro 2, except I know that people were already interested in it. Just put in some input for those questions or other areas and we’ll be hunky-dory. I’ll get started when I: -Finish Kingdom Hearts (almost done) -Get good progress on my contest betas -Get more input on this project
“But Raggedstar, I want you to AMV!” A frequent question. I said it in the video and I’ll say it here. I’m focusing more on AMVs than games. That’ll ALWAYS be the case. Gaming videos aren’t my element, but people wanted me to do more (blame them). I know I sound really tired here. It’s because I am. Why? Because I’ve been pulling some late nights AMVing (…and getting little progress). See? I’m still editing.
Last part, yepyep. Of course the two are highly unrelated, but they fit together best as far as time went.
And sorry, my mic went REALLY bad for the games. The only place that had room involved me using the full length of my wire, so the mic itself was closer to my face.
NOTE: Yes, I use a PS2 and not a PS3, shut it. There are VERY FEW games I’m interested in for the PS3 (mostly the R&CF ones), and that isn’t even all the games I indend to get for the PS2. If the PS3 had better/any BC, then logic says that it would be the better buy for me.
…as well as a fluffy visitor that was scratching at the door, making his public Youtube debut lol.
The second part of the My Collections series. This part covers my unseen DVD (Cowboy Bebop fangirls and boys, forgive me for not showing it last time. The DVD box fell off my bed and it wasn’t shown), music CDs, assorted gear (clothing and accessores), and my Pokemon stuff (Pokemon is just that epic. It needs it’s own recording). Sorry, but the cat is not a collection thing. He just…showed up lol (glad it wasn’t a dog. They would’ve murdered the camera).
Ya, there WILL be a third part. I have some footage left over that I couldn’t fit and I will hopefully get a 3rd (and final) part. It will contain books and games (one GBA and PC, a few DS, and PS1/2. Nothing else notable for GBC and GBA).
I frequently get asked many questions regarding where I get my stuff for my videos (namely my DVDs, music, and games). So, I decided to make a short series of videos (most likely 2-3 parts) to give some assistance regarding where to buy and about how much. I strongly support buying stuff to support the franchise, rather than downloading (unless it’s necessary), and most convention AMV contests do too. Since the camera is on, I also included some stuff that I haven’t used in my videos.
Note:
-To get DVD footage on your computer, look into programs called DVD rippers. I don’t think I can explain it well enough, and sometimes programs won’t work on certain movie.
-I’m Canadian, so some stores I mention might be Canadian only. Prices will also be only in CND, so they will not match up if you use a different currency.
-I can’t be too accurate on prices, especially if you’re buying online on places like eBay.
-NTSC and PAL (often labelled by things like Region 1 or 2) are movie and game formats that are region specific. For example, someone in the UK (a PAL region) cannot play movies or games from the USA (an NTSC region). Bootlegs are often region free and are a tell-tale sign.
-I get distracted sometimes, so I’ll put in values and other info I missed in annotations.
Again, like NCB, this has been audio swapped (they didn’t have the option for full-out muting. Erm…ok. I just chose this music because it kind of fit certain parts and it does kind of describe Impmon). Click this link to get to the version with sound.
My first Digimon video, profiling Beelzemon of Digimon Tamers and how he constantly tries to assert himself and not be considered helpless (because he can’t Digivolve on his own).
Yep, this is the last part. I started this in late October, and it’s finally finished in early May (though minus the major delays, it should’ve been completed in March or something). I tried to get this done in one video, but it decided to last for 2 . It would’ve been boring if I cut out some stuff (namely the fails and my first trip up the tower. Little commentary, just Spyro getting his ass singed and running around a homeworld. Everything in the game is now completed!
Stats Parts: 53 Deaths: 2 (Skelos Badlands glitch, and Crystal Glacier stupidity) Lives: 61 Attempts At FH Supercharge Before Going Insane: Due to recording problems, this kind of made me crazy at attempt 1.
Thanks to all the people watching, gaving me tips, and just in general being awesome. I can’t name everyone.
I’m an AMV maker of 4 years, so making gaming videos is not my element. I won’t do it often, but for people that want some more, here’s the best of both worlds. It won’t be in as good video quality (trying out stuff to increase quality, but for sure it’ll be on a camera), but I’ll TRY to do a boss run of Okami (which could take between 15 and 20 videos). Google it, for the game is made of epic.
In this video: -Skill point (Perfect Ripto) after much fail -Epilogue -Final ‘byes -Introduction to Okami boss run
Damn straight I am. We Greeks wrote great philosophy and invented battle strategies, cruel and unusual punishment, AND the most delicious sugar cookies I’ve ever eaten.
Greek pride aside, this should be the second last part of the LP. Dragon Shores is polished up and Gulp’s ass has been kicked again. Only thing left is to get the last skill point: fighting Ripto without taking damage.
In this video: -More bitch stuff -Finishing off the rollar coaster and getting the last token -Showing the movie theatre -Getting permanent superflame (…eventually) -2 skill points (hitting Ripto, beating Gulp without getting hit)
It may seem like it’s over after…almost a month of no recording, but it isn’t. Please keep in mind that I was finishing final assignments (…last minute), doing lots of tests, and finally doing exams. In between, I’ve been playing a few games as stress relief, such as Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Kingdom Hearts, and Ratchet: Deadlocked. This is actually my first full week of “summer vacation” (it isn’t actually summer yet), so I’ll try to finish stuff soon. I promise this time lol (…just like I promised about that Japanese Spyro 1 fail reel *sweatdrop*). Still, I I apologize for the wait.
Not much left to go. 3 skill points and Dragon Shores and then you can’t do too much else. Due to lack of commentary on the rollar coaster, I decided to include other topics and rants that I meant to cover, but didn’t. I had more, but I had to stop somewhere. If you don’t want to hear me yammer in filler, then leave after about 7 minutes (and maybe 2-4 minutes into the next part).
In this video: -Dragon Shores (8/10 tokens) -Tunnel, dunk tank, and shooting gallery, part of the rollar coaster -Rants and stuff
Recorded April 27th, 2010.
PS: And for those that are offended by my comments in the rant (regarding Youtube comments I get on my AMVs), I’m venting frustration (that I’ve been building up since 2006) and isn’t targeting anyone specific. It’s mostly repeat offenders, those that want everything handed to them personally, and those that decide to retaliate. Forgive me, but my patience doesn’t stretch very far and I bitch out frequently.
And since I just noticed, the Breathless and IWND could cause potential conflict, I’ll comment that it’s not to dictate what people should/shouldn’t watch, but more of personal frustration with people watching old, klunky videos when they could be watching something better (of mine or someone else’s. Doesn’t matter). I personally think they’re shitty (and I could review frame by frame on why), but everyone worships them. Popular =/= good.
