Hey guys, I found an old flash drive with a bunch of really old AMVs on it. The quality (and the video itself) aren’t that great, but Youtube has been kinda hard on it in the past. In 2009, WMG muted it (NONE of my other videos were muted) and then I manually took it down in 2011 because of Nihon Ad Systems. Consider this somewhat of a time capsule (hey, remember when Windows Movie Maker was somewhat serviceable for AMVs?)
This was the second video I made as a sort of “trailer” for my channel. My original was in 2006 (my 7th video, where I used music from MGS2. I no longer have any trace of that video since I removed it), and as my library grew, I did this video and eventually my 2010 edit that I currently use as my “trailer” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBk_9…)
Song: Last of the Wilds
Footage: GNG, GDW, ADGTH 1 and 2, P. Mononoke, Silverwing, Wolf’s Rain, Balto 1 and 2
*notices that Sovngarde Song is getting more than 4x as many views as her other videos* SO, I HERD U LIEK GINGA VIDEOS?
Click here for the official upload of this song. On the link also is where it tells you where you can buy music and support Gav so he can continue to make awesome songs like this. I also didn’t use the full song, so check that out.
This is a song about Bioshock Infinite (if you couldn’t tell from the first word of this segment), but there are no obvious spoilers in this or the video. The only one is pretty vague at best without context. It’s also a damn fine game, so I highly recommend it anyways.
Balto 2 up ’till now has been something I just plain never knew how to use (along with Princess Mononoke). So…here you go I guess! Just a quickie video (took me a week to finish) about Aleu’s adventure and the raven guiding her. I’ll put more detail later.

So…this happened. This video has been planned since…I don’t fucking know when. Sometime early last year. I can’t say I’ve seen an AMV with this song that approached it correctly in my eyes. Perhaps it’s because none of them had the kind of solemn footage that was themed with death. Well, I thought to myself, and Shadow of the Colossus
fit best. Death is a MAJOR theme in this game. Kill 16 creatures to save one woman who was sacrificed, only to be ultimately “killed” yourself. So now I have a video so I can give criticism without someone saying “well let’s see you do better”.

Also, tidbit. This song goes WAY back. See, this version is one of the more well known ones (featured on Supernatural), but that’s not where it began. There are quite a few covers of this song, with the oldest recording on Youtube I could find coming from the 1960s, though I think the oldest time this song has been noted being heard was in the 1800s. Wow 0__0. Apparently this is an old American dirge (dirge? As in the 10th colossus? Ooo I made a pun) that dates way back in American history. There, so you learned something today
PS: My name is Raggedstar, the queen of procrastination. Why? Well, see, I’m planning to step up to the plate again for Anime North (this game is rated T. Shouldn’t be too bad). The earliest a video could premiere was sometime in November or something. I started recording about 2 weeks ago, and then started editing last week. DUE DATE IS ON THE 8TH AT MIDNIGHT! I hate myself.
OH GLORY! OH SWEET MERCIFUL CHRIST ON A STICK WITH CHERRIES AND WHIPPED CREAM AND OREO TOPPING! IT’S DONE! IT’S DONE! IT’S LIKE BLOODY DUKE NUKEM FOREVER EXCEPT IT DIDN’T TAKE OVER 10 YEARS AND DESPITE BEING IN THE HANDS OF MORE THAN ONE GROUP IS…GOOD. IT’S DOOOOOOOOONE!

Damn this took a long time. We’re both EXTREMELY guilt-ridden, but this is what happens when one member is in an animal health program (…and working), the other member is in a family that will do everything in their power to distract her, PLUS having no time limit. I don’t even know if anyone (including Balco and our opponents) even remember that we were still trucking, but I wouldn’t blame them. It took a stupid long time. If any of you are in Toronto, drop me a line and I’ll send you some Kinder Eggs. If it helps, I whipped Possk for weeks. She was in a great amount of pain, but it helped.
Ok, video. This video is a focus on alchemy, particularly human transmutation (a taboo form of alchemy). Despite even the best intentions and purest motives, tragedy can happen. Alchemists are believed to be the closest things to gods there are in the world, but “putting your hand into the fire” will still cause you to get burned. And at the same time, the “power of a god” can be used for evil. A double-edged sword if you will. And even despite all that power, you’re still a mere mortal.
There is a crapload of angles Possk and I could discuss, but it would flood the description box. TO TEH BLOG…maybe!
Possk: 0:00 – 0:55

Now if you excuse us, Possk and I are going to go die in a corner.

Gavin writes songs based on video games and movies. This one is about Skyrim, though they have others about Batman, Half Life, Bastion, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, and many more.
And why yes, I even asked for permission to use this song :3
So ya, things went surprisingly smooth when editing this. I didn’t even make an AMV Files article about it yet 0-0. But regardless, let’s see if Nihon Ad Systems tolerates this one. It’s been ages since I’ve seen a mass takedown of GDW footage. If this gets taken down, go to animemusicvideos.org and I’ll upload there. This also might be submitted to Anime North for exhibition (since in case of violence I don’t want too much to be riding on it). The video I would be sending for competition would be…well…I said it in my Sly 4 LP announcement video. Less violent and more unique.
This video is about the everlasting spirit of the dogs of Ohu, spanning 5 generations (Shiro, Riki, Gin, Weed, Orion), facing demon bears, rival packs, and other dangers to their way of life.
Song: Sovngarde Song
Artist: Miracle of Sound
Footage: Ginga Densetsu Riki (manga), Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (anime/manga), Ginga Densetsu Weed (anime/manga), and Ginga Densetsu Orion (manga). All recolours by Rascal of SilverFangFanhouse except for Gin’s who was done by SilverEye of Gingaboard. All manga scans that weren’t from Rascal were obtained from Gingaboard’s Free Image Gallery.
…what? July isn’t too late to have your first AMV of the year. Well, technically this is more of a GMV (gaming music video), but no matter. This has got to be the fastest I’ve ever made a video with Vegas 0__0. About 4 days of actual work.
AMV Files Entry
Read the article if you want to know some of the more specific details. I would fill this thing up too fast using the description.
Anyways, this is the story of Journey told from the perspective of the being in white as a call to a journey (the background of that journey…I can’t say since the lore of Journey is kinda hazy). That’s the TLDR version. I’ve noticed Journey is a very tough source to work with because it tells it’s story through gameplay and environments as opposed to cutscenes. The entire playthrough I recorded was less than 90 minutes. I can guarantee you Final Fantasy 13’s cutscenes are more than twice that length. So what I did was instead of recording cutscenes, I recorded EVERYTHING. This allows me to control what I edit with by using different movements, camera angles, etc. It’s something really interesting I don’t see as often (but when done right, oh man I’ve seen a really good SOTC video that did that).
Did I mention you should buy this game?
