The last brush technique and 5th tier reflector. Brush technique is a little meh, but gotta love solar flare! I’ll say that I’ve been kind of selling the ice technique a little short. I actually did use it a little in the fight against Yami to SOME degree of usefulness.
Other than that, just running through puzzles and such and somewhat getting lost.
I swear, if I get ONE MORE BLOODY UNKNOWN ERROR… (Ya, that was the reason why it took so long. Every time I tried, it wouldn’t work. Ugh)
Aaaanyways, this is the last full dungeon of the game and has a brush technique (last one!), sub-boss, and a main boss. Almost there! And speaking of sheep, I saw newborn lambs today. CUUUUUTE!
Info: Wawku Shrine isn’t difficult unless you’re like me and way too neurotic about ice (…and canons, which this game often throws in combination). Bit of a disappointing final dungeon, but whatever. It’s pretty. With the exception of the ark (if you consider that a dungeon), it’s also the only dungeon with both a sub AND main boss as well as the only battles where you fight alongside an ally. That’s kinda neat in itself.
There is nothing anyone can say that won’t make me think that’s the bloody zetsu tenrou battouga! THAT’S WHAT IT IS!
Mmm, it feels good to upload regularly. I should do that more often, huh? Well, at least it would feel good if I stopped getting these blasted “unknown errors” x_x.
Info: This battle is unlocked AFTER you beat Ninetails on Oni Island (along with many other bead quests). The Kusa 8 rematch pits you against 3 rounds of Canine Warriors without a break in between. Not particularly difficult, but hoarding items is helpful since they can knick off a lot of damage and are harder than their original fights. First round is Chi (Japanese Spitz), Shin (Boxer), Rei (English Pointer), and Ko (Collie). Then for some reason Gi (Siberian Husky), Chu (Kai Ken), and Jin (Shiba Inu) return for round 2, but might not be them and only replacements or something. And last but not least, we of course have Tei (Tosa Inu). All the dogs have their original attacks, as well as some additional ones that are shared (ex. digging) or completely new (ex. THE BATTOUGA!). And my question has been answered. You CAN fight them if you started a new game and you got the bead on a previous playthrough.
Ya, I do know how to beat that bloody water head. I didn’t at that time though.
Yes, no upload yesterday. It kept breaking down due to an “unknown error”. Tisk tisk Youtube.
Info: True Orochi is more or less the same as the original Orochi at the end of the first act down to the quicktime events. Only difference is the context and cutscenes. Also, no Moon Cave and hideos round things to push around in weird sand rooms! HURRAH!
Well, mixture of that, Sakuya, Rao, and most other things in this game.
Ok, listen up! I know I haven’t been uploading a lot, but (and I’m serious this time) Okami will be finished by next week. Why am I so sure? Because I have it all recorded right here. I did this recording here in early February, another last week, and last on Monday. The entire game is completed and I have over 4 hours of video to upload (and it’s currently being split). Do the math. Because of this and me wanting to get this series off my back, there will be 1 video posted per day and each of them is over 10 minutes long (there will be some part overlap, like part of True Orochi will be in for the Kusa 8 Rematch video). There will also be 1 video dedicated to part of the last cutscenes, credits, and the scores and that will be about 11 minutes long. Thank you for your patience (and Balco’s too *pokes Possk*).
Info: Nagi behaves more or less like Evil Rao and Waka except harder. ‘Nuff said.
Yep, more of this again. Yadda yadda, blah blah blah. At least I did well against the other spider.
Today is actually the first day of second semester, so I don’t know when I can start recording again. I need to do a lot of stuff before I get to the next boss, which I THINK is True Orochi. Rehash battles! Woo!
Yep, got off me arse to record some more Okami. Hope you guys had a nice holiday. I really wanted to record more over my break, but the rents decided to stay in the house a lot for some reason. In this video and the next, there will be the bandit spider fights. It’s the first fight I’ve shown that is 100% OPTIONAL and isn’t needed for plot completion.
Also, my N. Ryoshima spider commentary recording (…that I made in October) seems to have vanished, so you’ve been spared my excessive whining. I replaced it with post-commentary where I just talk about random shit and how much I sucked at that fight. I hate doing post commentary. Enjoy (ya right).
Info: The bandit spiders are defeated the same way as the Geisha Spider (ie the first main boss) except they need 3 vines instead of 2. Easy fights really. I just make them look harder. Ryoshima’s is in a nook before the temple and near some cattle, N. Ryoshima’s is on one of the islands, and Kamui’s is close to Wep’keer. The 3 all require the digging upgrade to get to the arenas and after you defeat the spider you recieve a sun fragment. Returning to the arena will unlock the gate challenges where you can earn beads.
OMFG AN UPLOAD!? Yes, indeed it is. Possk is still busy and quickly editing her TCT parts, so I quickly recorded this in my spare time (since my remaining parts will build off of her’s). Almost Christmas and such and I’ve finished with classes (and passed all my stuff! Yay!). Oh, and happy holidays! I was going to say it, but I didn’t want to make this 2 parts. Blame Oki for not shutting up.
Info: Oki is a pain in the ass both in the plot and in this battle no matter how cool he looks with his shapeshifting, poofy pants, pointy hair, and mask. The first stage is more or less a rehash of Rao and Waka (well, except his flying swords are icey), but his second stage gets a fresh lifebar and becomes loosely based on the Kusa 8 (except a lot more annoying since he can freeze you and create clones). I am so happy I picked up fireburst!
The next part will be of the Bandit Spiders, since the last spider is at the far end of Kamui near Wep’keer. Then I’ll head back to Ryoshima Coast for the other one. If you remember in my Catcall Tower recording, I accidentally fell into the N Ryoshima cave when I was searching for brush upgrades.
There are craploads of Japanese shows, games, works of art, etc, that show multi-tailed foxes (with 9 tails too). It’s mythology! Even Ninetails’ role and actions in the plot reflect that (like possessing women and being a crafty trickster). I may not know a lot about Japanese mythology, but I know a little bit when it comes to kitsune.. Pokemon isn’t special except with being the franchise of the most famous example, so stop putting it in a bloody pedestal! I know I ranted about this in the video, but it really pisses me off when people say Okami and Digimon ripped off Pokemon and they ALWAYS use Ninetales vs Kyuubimon as an example (regarding Pokemon vs Digimon).
Trust me, I have several examples of Pokemon basing their designs on mythological creatures. For one example, Skarmory is like the metallic Stymphalian birds from Greek mythology among other kinds of metallic birds.
Ok, *cough* well, this is the last video I have. All these should last you until I can find the oppertunity to do the next sub-boss. I have to say I’m quite happy with how this fight turned out. My first time (rematch included) was hideous and smelled of noob. NOW I can finally have my revenge!
Info: Ninetails is one of the harder fights in the game (which doesn’t say much, but meh), and he loves to brag about it. It’s complex in regards to how many stages he has and how many moves are in his arsenal, but the real kick is in his ability to draw on your canvas (and using your brush techniques against you). He is the ONLY BOSS that can do this (but someone else later can) and makes him a huge pain in the ass. Regardless, he has to be my favourite boss in the game. Once he raises his sword and gets struck by lightning, he divides into creatures represented by how many tails he has (minus one? Never counted). They are annoying as hell and can easily overwhelm you before they return. Once you get rid of them all, he is left with one and the battle becomes a million times easier except for the fact that he’s also a million times faster (but also tires easily, limited in attacking, and is fragile).
