Damn straight I am. We Greeks wrote great philosophy and invented battle strategies, cruel and unusual punishment, AND the most delicious sugar cookies I’ve ever eaten.
Greek pride aside, this should be the second last part of the LP. Dragon Shores is polished up and Gulp’s ass has been kicked again. Only thing left is to get the last skill point: fighting Ripto without taking damage.
In this video: -More bitch stuff -Finishing off the rollar coaster and getting the last token -Showing the movie theatre -Getting permanent superflame (…eventually) -2 skill points (hitting Ripto, beating Gulp without getting hit)
It may seem like it’s over after…almost a month of no recording, but it isn’t. Please keep in mind that I was finishing final assignments (…last minute), doing lots of tests, and finally doing exams. In between, I’ve been playing a few games as stress relief, such as Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Kingdom Hearts, and Ratchet: Deadlocked. This is actually my first full week of “summer vacation” (it isn’t actually summer yet), so I’ll try to finish stuff soon. I promise this time lol (…just like I promised about that Japanese Spyro 1 fail reel *sweatdrop*). Still, I I apologize for the wait.
Not much left to go. 3 skill points and Dragon Shores and then you can’t do too much else. Due to lack of commentary on the rollar coaster, I decided to include other topics and rants that I meant to cover, but didn’t. I had more, but I had to stop somewhere. If you don’t want to hear me yammer in filler, then leave after about 7 minutes (and maybe 2-4 minutes into the next part).
In this video: -Dragon Shores (8/10 tokens) -Tunnel, dunk tank, and shooting gallery, part of the rollar coaster -Rants and stuff
Recorded April 27th, 2010.
PS: And for those that are offended by my comments in the rant (regarding Youtube comments I get on my AMVs), I’m venting frustration (that I’ve been building up since 2006) and isn’t targeting anyone specific. It’s mostly repeat offenders, those that want everything handed to them personally, and those that decide to retaliate. Forgive me, but my patience doesn’t stretch very far and I bitch out frequently.
And since I just noticed, the Breathless and IWND could cause potential conflict, I’ll comment that it’s not to dictate what people should/shouldn’t watch, but more of personal frustration with people watching old, klunky videos when they could be watching something better (of mine or someone else’s. Doesn’t matter). I personally think they’re shitty (and I could review frame by frame on why), but everyone worships them. Popular =/= good.
The epic battle against Ripto draws to a close. Took 50 parts, but the game is at 100% with all gems and orbs collected, all bosses defeated, and 13 skill points (should’ve checked the guidebook after the battle. Skill points don’t count in the game’s %).
It’s safe to assume that there won’t be many parts left. Dragon Shores and the remaining skill points are all that remain to be covered. The perfect boss skill points (ie not getting hit) aren’t particularly interesting with superflame, yet are rather difficult to get without. I do have recordings that I made last year of me taking down Gulp and Ripto without superflame (to get a perspective, my 45 lives went bye bye), but they have no commentary. I’ll put in some background music or something. Either vote for using those videos, or to do a live commentary with permanent superflame (no, I won’t do live no-superflame).
As for what’ll happen after, it’s going to be no more LPs. I’m an AMV maker, so I’m a little out of my element. Perhaps a boss run (perhaps sub-bosses too) of Okami or something in the future.
(and for those that don’t know about everyone’s favourite (former) Insomniac staff member Dan Johnson, I’ll put links later. It’s pretty funny, but I’m tired right now. If you’re not patient, google him yourself)
Wow, I’m stupidly loud in this part 0__0. *shrugs* I get into the game too much. I warned you right here.
Yay, it’s my birthday today too (well, when it’s fully uploaded, it’ll be too late. Blame Vegas for being so glitchy with rendering, Youtube for taking forever to upload, and Fraps for making me fix the sync. Still might have some issues). Also, I had to edit out some random mic buzzing and music glitches towards the end.
Well, the time has come to (in Spyro’s words) “give Ripto the old hot-foot”. This is the final boss battle for the game, and I must say that in the original trilogy, this is the most epic battle ever! Gnasty’s was anti-climactic and Miss Sorceress had a really bland final battle (first battle wasn’t bad). Sorry, but no skill point in this video, since Ripto isn’t cool with the idea of being roasted.
And mwha, bit of a cliffhanger at the end. Other than Spike in Spyro 3 (who is easily the hardest boss in the original trilogy), Ripto is the boss I die the most with. Will I make it, or will I choke and cry like a wuss? Find out what happens next…in a few days.
Anyways, this is it. Fracture Hills is finally finished (…twice *growl*) and is the last world to be completed and leaving only 3 skill points (…I hope. I can only think of 3 that I haven’t had yet). This video is essentially supercharge failure and Skype deciding to fail somewhere in the middle (which is why Shado went silent and you can see the edge of my Skype window). Next video is going to be the big showdown of Spyro and Ripto in Ripto’s Arena. Woo, we’re almost done!
Though let’s finish on the note that she is the superior AMV maker (because she is).
In this video: -Supercharge failure -More Shado failure -Skype failure (wow, lots of failure) -Skill point (3 laps of supercharge…eventually)
See, that’s why I brought an Alakazam lol. 2 psybeams and it was over. Shado was not pleased (she also wasn’t pleased at my capture of an asleep Tauros, in the orange, caught with a single pokeball). Alright, other than a little bit of lost footage at the beginning (up to 3:29), this video has everything live. Though the first 2 orbs were done in the first part, it’s all supercharge from here (as well as some rage from Shado as she’s facing Chuck, Cianwood Gym’s leader).
In this video: -Last 3 orbs in the game (escorting the alchemist, headbashing earthshapers, and freeing Krista the faun) -Supercharge failure -Last gems in the game (at 6k due to skipping Moneybags in Glimmer. The last 4k will come after beating Ripto)
-Instance of ESPN (bit of an inside thing between our friends) -Shado raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage
Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Yes, that’s exactly what happened. Let’s break it down in order of occurance: -Took weeks for us to even get together for commentary -Computer downstairs decided to hate Fraps (had to use the less trustworthy Camstudio instead) -Shado’s mic cut out repeatedly (though she replaced it) -Several stupid fails -After level completion, Camstudio decided to screw up rendering, forcing us to do it AGAIN -Shado having frustrations with Heart Gold (not related to the video entirely, but meh) -Her Audacity randomly cut out -REPEATING the same fails -Laaaaaaag -Skype cutting out -REPEATING those same, stupid fails -Best for last, Camstudio decided to kill the first part of the recording, so the first part was LOST…AGAIN!
Yes, all that shit happened. The only things that would’ve capped off the whole night would be gem failure, death, and 5 videos of supercharge attempts.
Soooo, because of all that, ALL of this video is commentary. I added footage of my fail reel run last year just to show the areas and challenges in the level and to add a visual element. They were not made to be in sync with the video. Sorry, but it was too damn frustrating to do the level a third time, and it was about midnight here too.
In this video: -Old (not live) gameplay -Most gems found in Fracture Hills -Shado raging at Heart Gold
…at least they would if Fraps decided to record more than about 20 seconds of the level x___x. Had to play it again, and sorry, no notable fails this time around. Even though they have to be the most stupidest fails I’ve EVER done, I still wanted to show everyone (since you sadistic people love to see me fail).
Ok, here’s how it happened. When I recorded earlier today, I was somewhere towards the middle/end of the level. I got hit twice by a genie (or once by a genie and again by a sword guy), and hit again by the genie when trying to attack. That got rid of Sparx. I ran to look for a peacock, but slipped off a platform and into the lava ooze of death. Since history has a knack of repeating itself, it happened again in an almost identical way. Since Fraps decided to be stupid, they were not recorded (and it’s not like I ran out of space, and I couldn’t find any other pieces to the video). These deaths I won’t count as official (because they were not recorded), but it makes for a potentially funny story and reason why I’m the Queen of Spyro Fail.
Right, so *cough* Shady Oasis is finished. Short recording because I only needed to get 1 very easy orb (that required 18 spirit particles). There’s one more level to complete, and that’s Fracture Hills. Shado and I will try to do commentary this weekend, since shit happened a few days ago.
In this video: -Storytime in the world of Spyro fail…that WASN’T done by Possk (and damn it, BEAT DREK ALREADY!) -All gems in Shady Oasis -Last orb (freeing the petrified hippos)
Quite literally. Most of this video is mystery bottle failure, gem failure, and me blah-blah-ing.
Eventually, Robotica Farms DOES get finished. You know what that means? Winter Tundra worlds are DONE (other than Ripto’s Arena and Dragon Shores if you count those). At the end, it’s prep time for the final 2 worlds for Autumn Plains backtracking: Shady Oasis and Fracture Hills. I’ll try to grab ShadowSmiffDemon this weekend so we can record with each other. If I can’t, then I’ll just do a (hopefully) fast 5 minute video for Shady Oasis to grab the last few gems and a very easy orb.
Though one thing that isn’t a waste of time in the video is a shoutout to Enardah of Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/Enardah). He got his hands on a (fairly rare) copy of Spyro x Sparx Tondemo Tours, which is the Japanese version of the game. It will be his first LP. Like in Spyro 1’s Japanese version, there are many changes to the game and isn’t just a simple dub. For those that don’t remember, they include: minor level design changes, Sparx is always green (even at full health, despite being gold in the cutscenes), signs, and that infamous camera of death.
In this video: -Gem faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaailure Yep, that’s it.
…is exactly what the mutant protopet looks like. Final boss in R&C: Going Commando is Cookie Monster after he had some bad stuff from the guy behind Hooper’s (won’t say who due to spoilers). Either Cookie Monster or some other derranged, blue muppet.
Did most of Robotica Farms. Went faster through this level than I thought I would (hell, all of the orbs are in this part), but I ran into some *cough* problems in the second half. I talked about some other games (hence the title), since there really isn’t much to do in this level.
In this video: -most gems in Robotica Farms -all orbs (flaming the bugs, “talisman orb”, and clearing the pumpkins)
