Is there a platformer movie? Is there a platformer novel? Is there such a thing as a platformer television show? Nope. The existence of platformer only exists in video games. It’s simple really, it’s an action game genre where the main goal is to adventure, defeat enemies, and (most importantly) jump to platform to platform. Jumping on platform to platform is some of my favorite things to do in a video game. Platform games (or platformers) really are my favorite genre of video games. The fact that there are so many different challenges of platforming for every single game in the genre offers variety for a veteran like me. To add even more variety, there are so many subgenres of platformers like metroidvania, hop and bop, cinematic platformers, 3d platformers, and many more! Platformers maybe the most important video game genre ever because during the crash of 1983, what saved the video game industry? Super Mario Bros., and that was a platformer! I always say that every console needs a platformer and here I am announcing my future project exclusively for itstailtime.net!
